Part 5: The Rules of Vaudeville
August 28, 2007

Currently, the public debate operates under the rules of vaudeville. One-liners and 'the show must go on' mentality holds sway over all types of public discourse. It should be no surprise that politicians and theatrical people are thriving in this environment because both groups thrive in an environment that is contrived, but for different reasons.

The last time people had freedom even remotely resembling the US Constitution they did not value it enough to protect it and share it with all human beings. The entire world lost freedom for 1,831 years.

The misery that followed the loss of the Roman republic was unprecedented in all of human history with an endless succession of Kings, Tyrants and Theocrats who took great joy in crushing the people's spirit and will in order to strengthen their power to attain wealth and fame.

Not until the US Constitution was adopted in 1787 did people have freedom again. The entire world looks upon the United States as the great beacon of freedom throughout the world. Currently that beacon has dimmed and is in danger of going out with no alternative available.

The entire world now shudders at the prospect of the great Democracy declining and failing. If it does fail so goes the world's citizen's freedom in quick succession, little as they may have.

The decedents of the great Monarchies of Europe, Asia and the Middle East all sit and wait for the opportunity to take the power and wealth back that was lost to the spread of democracy. The Theocrats move within our societies sowing the seeds of discontent, speaking as if they were God himself. The Tyrants now hide in the shadows of the government and business waiting for the opportune moment.

If the day comes that these people regain power over the citizens they will surely make what happened at the Roman Coliseum look like a school picnic in comparison. They will beat into the population the message that they overstepped their bounds and the unmitigated cruelty is what the citizens brought upon themselves and their eternal consequence.

All Monarchs, Theocrats, Tyrants and Politicians have the desire to exercise power over the citizens, extract wealth from them and build monuments to themselves with a total disregard for the human suffering it causes. If the great US Democracy fails it will cast a shadow across the entire world that could easily last for two thousand years.

The people of America are the children of the World. We represent the very best that each and every country in the world has to offer because we descend from them, we are their sons and daughters.

Thomas Jefferson said in his second inaugural address, "That a government that could not stand up under criticism deserved to fall." and "No experiment can be more interesting than that we are now trying, and which we trust will end in establishing the fact, that man may be governed by reason and truth. Our first object should therefore be, to leave open to him all avenues of the truth."

I fully realize that by writing these words I open myself to government harassment, imprisonment and maybe even death. The life of one man is worth far less than saving the great gift the Founding Fathers gave us, the Republic of the United States, and the freedoms promised so one day it will be true to say that, all men and women are truly created equal.
